Here are some gown cleaning and preservation tips!

Even though you may have a local dry-cleaners who is reputable and trustworthy with your daily clothing, we strongly recommend against subjecting your wedding gown to the dry cleaning process. The solvents inherent in the dry-cleaning process can cause irreparable damage to the delicate beadwork on your gown and cause discoloration of the delicate fabrics and laces. In response to so many requests from our brides, we are pleased to introduce The Bridal Gallery's in house Cleaning and preservation service.
Our expert seamstresses, beaders, and pressers, the same people who prepare your gown for your wedding, will repair, clean, and oversee the preservation of your bridal gown right after your wedding. All work is performed on premises, not shipped out of province or off-site.

Aqua Cleaning

Aqua cleaning is a delicate process where by each gown is given a special treatment in a solvent free natural cleaning solution. Through careful handling and our specific methods we are able to restore your gown to its optimum condition before preservation. Ours is one of the only installations of this specialized equipment in the province.

Archival Bridal Garment Bag

We have designed the ultimate storage method for your bridal gown. Our archival bag design is based on the Smithsonian Institute's method of long term storage of historical garments. Our archival bag is 100% acid free, breathable and certified by Canada's leading fabric institute.

Myths

Storing your gown in an acid free, vacuum sealed cardboard box with viewing window is not the recommended storage method. Vacuum sealed boxes in fact prevent your gown from breathing which has been shown to accelerate the yellowing of bridal gowns.
